Client Process

We always meet with potential clients to discuss their income expectations, define their tolerance for investment risk, and understand their future income requirements. Some of the topics we’ll discuss with you at the initial meetings are:
- Risk Tolerance: How comfortable are you investing in stocks that individually can be highly volatile in the short term?
- Income Needs: Do you require any income monthly, quarterly or annually from your investment portfolio?
- Time Horizon: Over what time period are you planning to invest to achieve your personal, family and/or business financial objectives? Are there any big milestones (children’s tuition, house purchase, etc.) for which you will require a large sum of money? When are they?
- Long-Term Investment Plan: Do you want to set up trusts for your children, or establish a charitable foundation? As investment specialists, we manage the securities inside trusts and foundations. We do not provide tax advice or estate planning services; however, we can recommend experienced financial planners, tax lawyers, and tax accountants.
Once we have developed your investment profile, we decide which asset mix best meets your needs (see below for our different composites). We assist you with completing the appropriate paperwork and take care of all the details of transferring assets into your new account with us. Your Portfolio Manager will take a look at your current portfolio and will sell securities that do not meet your investment criteria. We review your asset mix frequently to ensure it reflects your financial circumstances and expectations.
“While some might mistakenly consider value investing a mechanical tool for identifying bargains, it is actually a comprehensive investment philosophy that emphasizes the need to perform in-depth fundamental analysis, pursue long-term investment results, limit risk, and resist crowd psychology.”
– Seth Klarman
